old man sittin’ in the corner

old man sittin’ in the corner
he’s hardly said a word or two
his face is broken and his movements slow
only his eyes speak of his sorrow

old man sittin’ in the corner
he knows the pain of a wasted life
he knows the songs of old and ancient wars
he sit’s there thinking his own thought

old man sittin’ in the corner
you’d never know it to look at him
but he’s travelled the world in his day
he been to argentina and mexico

old man sittin’ in the corner
you’d never know it but he was once in love
with a spanish girl in gibraltar
broken memories of long ago

old man sittin’ in the corner
he carries the world on his shoulder
his voice is cracked and he talks so slow
but he’s got a lot to talk about

old man sittin’ in the corner
his heart was broken when he wandered
that was long ago he always looked so sad
i’ll miss that old man when he’s gone
